Paying For College

Helena College's financial aid packages average over $9,000. Aid may include Helena College scholarships and awards, federal grants and loans and work-study jobs. The average amount of scholarships and grants per aid package is $2,350.

2009-2010 Financial Aid Budget Direct Costs:

  • Full Time Tuition (in-state) - $3,041
  • Full Time Tuition (out-of-state) - $8,037

Total Cost of Attendance is estimated to be $14,924 (in-state) and $19,918 (out-of-state), which includes tuition and allowances for books and supplies, living and personal expenses, and transportation. Allowances are not billed to the student.

Financial Aid Checklist

  • Apply for Admission.
  • Apply for scholarships. Look online at www.helenacollege.edu under Financial Aid.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). An online application is available at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. You must complete a FAFSA to be considered for need-based aid (including federal student loans). On the FAFSA, indicate Helena College's Federal School Code 007570 so we can receive the Student Aid Report.
  • Respond to any college request for additional information.
  • After you have been accepted and Helena College receives your Student Aid Report you will receive your financial aid award notification.
  • Respond to the college's financial aid offer.
  • If you have accepted a student loan(s), complete and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN), per the college's instructions.
  • If your parent plans to do a parent loan, they must complete and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) per the college's instructions.
  • Register for classes.
  • Respond to the Helena College Business Office when you receive your semester billing statement and arrange for final payment.
