Valerie Curtin, Executive Director of Compliance & Financial Aid/Title IX Coordinator/ 504 coordinatorStudents may seek accommodations for many reasons, but some of the most common are: ADHD, students who are Visually Impaired or Blind, students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, drug and alcohol addiction, learning disabilities (dyscalculia, dyslexia, etc.), physical disabilities, psychological and psychiatric disabilities (PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, etc.), traumatic brain injuries, temporary disabilities (like from a crash or fall on ice), or even pregnancy. A couple examples of accommodations students may request / use are: extended test time, quiet or different testing areas, the ability to move or stand during class, medicine or snack break during class, and live captioning.
