Who can join Montana 10?

To join Montana 10, you must:

  1. Be a Montana resident
  2. Complete a FAFSA and have financial need.
  3. Be admitted to an MUS institution with a Montana 10 program.
  4. Be a first-time undergraduate or transfer student with fewer than 24 credits (not including dual enrollment).

If you are not selected for the program, it will not mean Montana 10 does not believe in your academic success! In this scenario, we will reach out and walk you through the list of financial aid options, and academic supports available at your institution.

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year of attendance
  • Take a full-time schedule of 15 credits per semester or 30 credits per year.
  • Meet regularly with your Montana 10 success advisor.
  • Maintain good academic standing.

Montana 10 is part of a study being conducted by the Montana University System and the research group MDRC. The study will measure the effect of these types of services and financial supports on students' outcomes. Space is limited in the program. If you are interested in and eligible for the program and study, you can enter a lottery for a spot in Montana 10. Just over half of students who apply will be able to participate in Montana 10.
