Helena College Pre-Pharmacy Program
ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE
PRE-PHARMACY
Pre-Pharmacy is the first step for students who wish to pursue a career in pharmacy practice. Upon completion of an Associate of Science Degree with a Pre-Pharmacy Option at Helena College, students will meet the prerequisite requirements needed for eligibility and application into UM-Missoula Skaggs School of Pharmacy. Students are strongly encouraged to consult the Skaggs School of Pharmacy application page on the University of Montana website to understand the professional program application process and suggested GPA for competitive entry and the successful student profile.
Pharmacists will work in a Hospital/Clinical, Retail, Compounding or Research environment. Employment is expected to increase by 25 percent from 2010 to 2020, which is faster than the average for all occupations. The median annual wage for pharmacists was $111,570 in May 2010. (According to O*NET statistics information)

Additional Requirements to meet eligibility to apply for Professional Pharmacy School:
ü Successful completion of the Pre-Pharmacy program resulting in an Associate Degree with Pre-Pharmacy option of study.
ü Complete 60 hours of volunteer or paid service in pharmacy, other health care or social field. To be finalized with an evaluation form filled out by an associate involved in such an experience.
ü A maintained GPA of 2.5 or better and must maintain a “C” or better in all courses of study designated as a Pre-Pharmacy program.
ü Completion of the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT).
UM - School of Business Administration Transfer Initiative
This degree program is specifically designed for students seeking admissions into the School of Business Administration at the University of Montana-Missoula. Upon completion of this degree, students desiring a bachelor’s degree in areas of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, and International Business are eligible to apply for admissions into UM-Missoula’s School of Business Administration. Note: This degree offers eligibility for application to the School of Business Administration at UM-Missoula and does not guarantee admission. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all courses designated as a lower-core course.

* Finance Majors are required to take Applied Calculus (M162) in place of Probability & Linear Mathematics (M115). This course should be taken the student’s first semester at UM-Missoula.
In the semester when students will have completed 60+ cumulative credits: 1) students must take a Writing Proficiency Assessment (WPA) exam with UM-Missoula and 2) apply for admissions into the School of Business Administration.
