The ACCUPLACER placement test is a tool that Helena College uses to place students in the appropriate level for math and writing courses. The tests determine your knowledge in math, reading, and writing as you prepare to enroll in college-level course.

Do I have to take the ACCUPLACER test?

If you do not have applicable test scores, you must take the ACCUPLACER test in order to be placed in the appropriate course for your skill level. Our goal is to place you into courses that will help you be successful during your academic career. If you have taken a SAT/ACT within the past three years, you may not have to take the ACCUPLACER test.

You will need to take the complete ACCUPLACER test, including Algebra and English, if your plan is to enter any program at Helena College and do not have transfer credits in these areas. The test may be waived for non-traditional freshmen and transfer students if they have previously taken college level math and writing courses and received a passing grade.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the complete test is $30 ($15 for English, $15 for Math), payable to Helena College at the Cashier’s office. A photo id and payment receipt is required to take the test.

Where do I take the test?

The ACCUPLACER Test is administered at Helena College in the Student Support Center, located in Room 139 on the Donaldson Campus.
