Disability Resources

Scooter on Campus

There is an electric scooter on campus for use by our students or employees. If a student is using the scooter, the student needs to register with Disability Resources. The scooter must be used on the Donaldson campus only, and it must be used between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with the key being returned to the Office of Disability Services in Room 119. Any problems with the scooter should be reported to Maintenance or Room 119 as soon as possible.

Lockers on Campus

Nine lockers are provided on the Donaldson campus for students with disabilities. Students requesting lockers must be registered with Disability Resources and must fill out an application. The locker is assigned to the student for one term at a time but may be requested again by the student. Locks must be provided by the student. For more information, students should see the Office of Disability Resources in Room 119.

Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology (AT) can be defined as any software that the user with a disability uses to make the computer, the internet, or other electronic tools or resources available. The Office of Disability Resources has a number of programs and tools available for students to use. These include:

  • Kurzweil: a program that the student uses to read documents
  • Natural Reader: another screen-reading program that reads documents
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking: a voice recognition program that types what is spoken into the microphone
  • FM system: an amplification system that hard-of-hearing students can use

We also have tools such as talking calculators, Livescribe pens, digital recorders, amplified stethoscopes, large button keyboards, magnifiers, and more for the student to borrow. See the Office of Disability Resources for more info.
