Business Administration

Associate of Science Degree towards a Bachelor Degree Via Articulation Agreement with UM School of Business

This degree program is specifically designed for students seeking admissions into the School of Business Administration at the University of Montana-Missoula. Upon completion of this degree, students desiring a bachelor’s degree in areas of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, and International Business are eligible to apply for admissions into UM-Missoula’s School of Business Administration.

Business Technology

The Business track emphasizes general business courses to provide students with a broad background for the business environment. The Associate of Applied Science – Business Technology degree offers management, marketing, ethics, and finance courses. Graduates of the Accounting track learn skills readying them to be accounting technicians with private, government, or not for profit agencies. Graduates of the Business track gain knowledge as associates in business or entrepreneurs of their own ventures. Students choosing either option may transfer their A.A.S. degree toward earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in business through other Montana higher education institutions.

Healthcare Administration

The Health Administration program offers an articulation agreement that applies to the A.S. degrees with the Social and Psychological Sciences option, for students seeking admission to the fully online Bachelor of Science in Health Administration (B.S.H.A.) program at Montana State University Billings.

The Health Administration Program is designed to educate and prepare individuals to be health care leaders who can meet the challenges of health care in our region, advance the quality of care delivered to all and meet anticipated workforce needs in a variety of positions in health administration.

The program offers the ability to enhances the depth and quality of education through partnerships in the community, provides a variety of instructional formats responsive to the needs of students, including online, offers both a field experience and an internship as well as finishes with a six credit senior internship. Students will develop skills and can apply the conceptual foundation and competencies learned in the classroom and develop skills in the areas of leadership, strategic planning, organizational management, human resources, outcomes evaluation, creative thinking, and technical areas. Careers in health administration include a wide range of management and administrative positions in health-related organizations and health service delivery systems.

Medical Administrative Specialist

Medical Administrative Specialist A.A.S. Associate of Applied Science degree is designed to prepare the student for employment in hospitals, medical offices, insurance companies, nursing homes, and public health agencies, often leading to careers in office management. The position of an administrative medical assistant requires skills in medical knowledge, computer technology, oral and written communications, and an awareness of effective office procedures. Positive interpersonal relations and team work are integrated into classroom activities.

Bookkeeping  

The Certificate of Applied Science (C.A.S.)is designed as a stackable degree with the Associate of Applied Science Accounting Technology degree. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles and practices required for profit accounting by analyzing source documents, recording transactions, and preparing financial statements for a sole proprietorship. Students will also be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the business environment as it relates to accounting, demonstrate competency in computer application and demonstrate communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

Computer Software Professional

The Computer Software Professional curriculum is offered entirely online and you are allowed and encouraged to complete courses at your own pace. In addition to a strong technical foundation, you will receive related instruction in communication, human relations, and technical mathematics. The degree will prepare you to work as a customer service representative or assistant in a wide range of organizations in the broader area of service-related industries including financial services, healthcare, governmental services, and others.

Entrepreneurship

The Certificate of Applied Science (C.A.S.) degree is designed as a stackable degree with the Associate of Applied Science Business Technology degree. Students will be able to identify the fundamentals of launching and maintaining a small business, describe how external forces of economic resources, legal constraints, and global competition relate to the small business environment, demonstrate competency in computer applications in maintaining business records and apply communication skills toward enhancing interpersonal business relationships.

Legal Support Specialist

The need for qualified legal office personnel in private law firms, state government, insurance companies, and many other offices continues to increase. The Legal Support Specialist Certificate is designed to be completed with two semesters and provides training to ensure employability within a one-year period of time in the areas of writing, math, computer applications, human relations, and legal concepts. Medical Assisting

Medical Assisting is a one-year Certificate of Applied Science. Students completing the program will have computer competency in basic Microsoft Office including skills in hardware, software, internet, Windows Word and Excel. Students will be able to communicate ideas in various venues including written and oral, using a variety of media. Students will be able to demonstrate their ability to apply knowledge of office systems in two of the following areas:  Professional Office Procedures, Records Management, Customer Service, Medical Transcription or Medical Coding.
